Business: Standard Mileage Rate

Standard Mileage Rates

The Internal Revenue Service has issued the 2024 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.

Beginning on January 1, 2024, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car, van, pickup or panel truck will be:

  • 67.0 cents per mile for business miles driven, up from 65.5 cents from January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023

The standard mileage rate for business is based on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs of operating an automobile, including depreciation, insurance, repairs, tires, maintenance, gas and oil.

All Foothill-De Anza Employees are encouraged to check the district's list of the frequently visited locations and the agreed upon mileage, or use Google Maps as a reference to support your mileage claims.

Mileage reimbursement shall be computed and paid from either the employee's designated place of employment or residence, whichever is less.
